Paddling Towards Recovery

Affectionately known as PIP (Paddlers in Pink), we are proud to support these strong and remarkable women from the Breast Cancer Foundation’s inspiring dragon boat recovery programme.

This is no ordinary dragon boating team. Formed in 2000, the group has grown to 57 resilient and spirited members. Their oldest paddler is an inspiring 74-year-old, proving that strength and vitality have no age limit. Over the years, the team has won numerous dragon boating events locally and globally. Their trophies, proudly displayed at BCF’s headquarters, are a testament to their unwavering determination.

Training for PIP goes far beyond the water. Apart from intense boot camp-style land training and dragon boating on the water, their regimen also includes aqua fitness and recovery exercises and ends with a shared meal to recharge and bond as a team. It’s not just a workout, but a lifeline of support, strength, and solidarity.

YWCA Fort Canning is honoured to stand alongside these incredible women and their supporters in their mission to raise breast cancer awareness and support survivors on their journey of recovery by providing a safe and welcoming space for their monthly aqua fitness training at our pool.

It is our small way of helping these incredible women to stay active, connected, and inspired as they paddle towards awareness, recovery and hope.
